Adult Therapeutic Recreation And Family Support Services

Adult Recreation ArtOn Your Mark, Inc. offers a wide variety of therapeutic recreation programs for adults. Our programs serve over 500 children and adults a wide variety of creative and innovating programs. Classes are taught by talented and dedicated professionals. These programs provide opportunities to acquire new skills and experiences for individuals served as well as offer respite for their families.

Adult Recreation SportsWhile On Your Mark utilizes a number of community centers, we have also developed our own newly designed Inclusive Community Center (ICC) for our therapeutic recreation programs. The ICC includes a State-of-the-art Fitness and Wellness Center, Gymnasium, indoor Pool, Music Studio, Computer Lab, Spin Bike Room, and a Leisure-Social Lounge. In these settings, individuals can enjoy time with their friends while promoting fitness, team sports skills, arts, music, socialization, independence, and self esteem.

Adult Recreation ComputersWe offer a Weekend Recreation Program on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays from October to May. Here, Individuals participate in a variety of recreation, art and sports activities at various locations. We also offer Day Trips, Overnights, and Sleep Away Camp during holidays and summer when the schools are closed. Previous trips include resorts and camps such as Split Rock, Camp Chen-A-Wanda, and Raquette Lake. Weekend Recreation and Holiday Trips are also available in Brooklyn.

Adult Recreation Drama

  • Special Olympics and other Sport Programs: Individuals participate in adaptive sports programs that promote team work and individual skills in a variety of sports, such as softball, soccer, basketball, bowling, hockey, volleyball, and others. On Your Mark is an Independent Training Club and an active participant of the Special Olympics New York Program. On Your Mark has been nominated the #1 Sports training program in the past, and won Gold/Silver/Bronze Medals in Basketball ,Floor Hockey , Swimming and Volley ball.
  • Ice Skating: This program takes place at the Clove Lake rink and incorporates instructional and free skate to individuals.
  • After Day Habilitation Adult Fitness Program: Programs include Functional Fitness, Strength, Flexibility, and Cardiovascular training, as well as classes in Karate, Yoga, Zumba, and Spin Bike. This program is offered to individuals who attend our Day Habilitation Program.
  • Bowling: Instructional Bowling and a competitive Bowling League in the Summer are available.
  • Theatre Program: Individuals participate in dance, sing, and drama provided by Theatre Company Directors. Weekend and Weekly rehearsals culminate in an end of the year performance. Past performances have included the Sound of Music, Grease, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie Get Your Gun, Hairspray , Peter Pan, Bye Bye Birdie, The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins.  This year, the cast performed in Beauty and the Beast.
  • Social and Leisure Programs: Programs are offered on various days during the week. They include concerts in our social lounge and programs such as TGIF, Wacky Wednesday, Social Night, and Karaoke Café Night at the OYM  Café on Forest Avenue.
